Mission House Project

The land God provided for us to establish Hope for the Island was a jungle.  When clearing the overhead growth, we evicted many wild animals and insects.  With barely enough money to cover expenses for daily meals, Jenn and I set out to develop the land and build a functional house / covered space for ministry. God blessed us with land entirely covered from one end to the other with coconut trees.  Although it is a soft wood and not recommended for permanent structures, we used it trusting God to sustain it against the devastating tropical elements.  With a chainsaw, we cut every piece needed.  Manual labor took on a whole new meaning!  What should have collapsed many years ago still stands after 10 years.  The Mission House has been home to our family, staff and many visitors.  All ministries were held on the ground floor until other structures were built.   Each year we have an engineer check the house.  The latest check revealed that much of the wood is still in good shape and could be reused for a light structure but the 2 story house has to come down.  Due to the termite, rain and sun damage it is no longer safe for the staff or children.   

I had my engineer friend draw up new plans to give face to what will someday stand as HOPE’S new Mission House.  We ask that you prayerfully join us in trusting God for this very real need.  The plans are for a concrete structure so that it will last.  Also taken into consideration, was the need for an open space on the second floor. This would give us additional covered ministry space during the long monsoon season that brings torrential rains.
